I think him letting Lyanna give Jon whatever name she wanted fits well with how Barristan was describing Rhaegar to Dany.

I don't think Rhaegar ever considered the child he'd conceived was a male. He already had the Prince Who Was Promised in the form of Aegon (whose mother was also not a Targaryen) so he was more concerned with having a Visenya to complete the set of Aegon's sister-wives.

Ned named Jon after Jon Arryn, but that's all we know as far as what the child was called after he was born.

Is that explicitly stated?

Well I figured Jon isn't an uncommon a name in the north. I'm sure there were a few Jon Starks. Plus, it might have been perceived as a slight to name a bastard after a high lord.

Game of Thrones season 7 to feature villain that makes Ramsay look like 'a little kid'

Quote:
Actor Pilou Asbæk has warned his character Euron Greyjoy will make the likes of Ramsay Bolton (played by Iwan Rheon) and King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) look like “little kids” as the King of Salt and Rock leaps hundreds of steps further in season seven.

Euron joined Game of Thrones in season six where he murdered his own brother Balon and claimed the Salt Throne for himself.

"The psychos I've encountered have so many different sides to them," he told Empire magazine. "So each scene I've done with Euron, I pick a new thing I wanna show.

“‘This scene I want to be charming.' 'This scene I wanna be a molester.' 'This scene I wanna kill someone.’”

Well, I want to believe him because the Book Euron is basically Saruman to the Great Other's Sauron/Morgoth, but those spoilers that got out didn't exactly depict Euron as anything especially impressive and his role in Season 6 was massively underwhelming. It's just Hype more than likely.

Youre probably right. Unless they filmed something and somehow kept it from leaking but the chances of that arent high. GOT productions leak like a sieve.

Yeah that's the only thing that I can remotely think of, that he gives the Sand Snakes and Yara the Forsaken treatment.

That flaming sword is REALLY interesting. Wasn't a flaming, magical sword the weapon of the original Azor Ahei? And that guy wielding it is from the Men without Banners who has been brought back a lot by the lord of light? Hmmmm.....?

Maybe there will be a little competition going on over who actually is the one that was promised. Of course it's John, but we can't give him a flaming sword all easy.

Who do you figure Jon is talking to?

What family do the Starks have that they have differences to, but have fought alongside for centuries?

Or is it just edited that way?

Could be Targs or Lannister really, it just sounds like Jon trying to unite some army's to fight the WW's.

On second thought, he's probably speaking to the lords of the North. Maybe bringing the Umbers and Karstarks back into the fold.
