It's not a new trailer, but Nintendo has released a new version of it that pumps the frames-per-second up to 60.

Splatoon Developers Share More Details On Gameplay And The Story Mode. November 20, 2014 . 2:31pm

Here’s a summary of everything shared on the game’s recently opened official Twitter account, thus far.

Quote:

Splatoon is the game that Nintendo is using to take on the competitive shooter genre, except instead of soldiers and bullets, you play as ink-shooting squid-people. Here’s a summary of everything shared on the game’s recently opened official Twitter account, thus far.

First, is a look at the control scheme, brought to you by the “Squid Research Laboratory”. Here’s what it says:
ZL – Squid (dive into the ink
L stick – Move
R – Bomb (uses 70% of your ink)
ZR – Ink Shot (uses ink)
R stick – Look left and right
X – Jump
Y – Camera Reset
You can also press the squid icon on the screen to jump towards your allies, and move the GamePad to take aim.

The next image is a look at how to use the GamePad to properly control your aim. As the image shows, you won’t need to move the GamePad too much just to get a clear view of above.

The R button is actually used for “sub-weapons,” and while it seems to consist mainly of bombs, there’s a variety of them. The above image shows the “Splash Bomb” which not only can be used as a direct attack, but it also has tactical uses such as finding hidden enemies.

The above image shows another example of what else you can do when your character is in its squid form, which allows them to travel inside their ink. Not only does it allow them to travel at a faster speed, but it also allows the squids to climb up walls.

However, keep in mind that if you happen to be on the ink of the opposing color, your movement will slow down, and you won’t be able to go into squid mode.

The mysterious, squid will guide you in Hero Mode. He seems to know about the Octopus Corps’ activities, while the others don’t seem to know what’s going on as the squids live peaceful lives. The weapon on the right also seems to be a mysterious weapon that also appears in Hero Mode.

This guy’s name is the “Battery Catfish”. The world of Splatoon runs off its energy, and it’ll be up to you to retrieve it after it got stolen by the Octopus Corps.

Finally, here’s a look at the sponge block that can be seen in Hero Mode. This block swells up when hit by squid ink and shrinks with octopus ink. It seems as though the Octopus Corps is quite familiar with biotechnology…

Splatoon is slated for release sometime during Q2 of 2015 for Wii U.

Hey fellas, need some buying advice.

I want to buy a Wii U, Smash Bros, and MK8 for my son.

I was planning on getting the Wii U MK8 bundle from Walmart but they're all sold out.

What's my cheapest option?

some guy was telling me today that nintendo pours way more resources into its handheld department and that's one major reason why the wii u is "failing"

not sure I buy that. I'm pretty sure nintendo pours the same amount of resources into its handhelds as it has its consoles. he also tried telling me that the 3ds version of smash is better than the wii u version because of extra features or watever, not sure I buy that either.

Are you bent on getting it right now? Because the MK8 bundle may be back in stock unless it was a limited time offer (not sure if it was). But the cheapest Black Friday thing I've seen is via eBay, a bundle that includes 3D World and Nintendo Land for $259.99 (I do not know if this is new or not).

Besides that, there's not much options besides just buying the current bundles and getting MK8 and Smash separately. You could wait for a refurbished Wii U to come up on Nintendo's online shop, too. They tend to have good deals, if you don't mind the fact that it's not brand new

Lol, the Wii U version of Smash easily has three times the content of the 3DS version. Literally, the only thing the 3DS version has over it is the portability aspect.

Did people actually get those? I know it was a pricing error of some sort. Did Sears honor it?

Walmart and Amazon list more Amiibo figures for December 14

8

We already knew that Amiibo figures for Captain Falcon, Diddy Kong, Little Mac, Luigi, Pit and Zelda would be worming their way into our hearts and onto our shelves sometime in December, but Amazon and Walmart seem to have narrowed that window down to a single day: December 14.

When browsing Walmart's website, a release date of 12/14/2014 can be seen next to each of the aforementioned figures, ditto for Amazon. And it's not just online listings - the official Walmart Twitter account has also seemingly confirmed the date. "Yes, the release date for Captain Falcon Amiibo is set for December 14," the "Walmart Elves" tweeted to a prospective Amiibo purchaser after he inquired if the date was official.

Of course, numbers on the internet and even Santa's helpers can be wrong from time to time, but it probably wouldn't hurt to stake out your spot in line if there's a particular figure you need to add to your collection.

Looks like Nintendo is going to discount some games from the eShop for Thanksgiving week and beyond. It's up to 30% off, though, so probably won't see huge cuts, but it's something:

Quote:
The Nintendo eShop Cyber Deals will bring you some great prices on great games from Thursday, November 27 at 9 am PT to Tuesday December 2 at 8:59 am PT. Save up to 30% on the following titles:

Nintendo 3DS:

Mario & Luigi™: Dream Team
Luigi’s Masion™: Dark Moon
Wario Land™ 2
Wario Land™ 3
Metroid™ II-Return of Samus™

Wii U:

The Wonderful 101™
Wii Party™ U
Mario & Luigi™: Superstar Saga
Wario Land™ 4
Metroid™ Fusion

Splatoon’s Octopi Villains Aren’t Exactly The Brightest, But Still Dangerous. November 26, 2014 . 2:33am

Turf wars in Splatoon lets you use special weapons, which can be accessed by spreading paint on the ground to gain power. One of these special weapons is the “Barrier” that lets you reflect enemy attacks.

Quote:

We recently got a look at Splatoon’s control schemes, and other useful tidbits shared by the developers. The official Japanese Twitter account for the game shares the latest including a little more on the villainous Octopus Corps.

The above is another image that was sent out by the “Squid Research Laboratory,” and it gives us a look at a sketch depicting the base of the Octopus Corps. They say that it’s made from the ruins of a civilization that existed long ago, and there’s just something familiar about it…

Additionally, the Squid Research Laboratory shared more on the difference between squid and octopus ink. Squid ink is used to escape predators, while ink from an octopus is more of a smoke screen.

The turf wars in Splatoon lets you use special weapons, which can be accessed by spreading paint on the ground to gain power. One of these special weapons is the “Barrier” that lets you reflect enemy attacks. This is just one of the many special weapons out there.

Here’s a look at one of the combatants of the Octopus Corps. It rides some sort of hovercraft that can soot out ink. They may be powerful, but not exactly the smartest, so when you hide inside ink, they’ll immediately lose sight of you.

Splatoon will release in Q2 of 2015 for Wii U.
