Square Enix will hold a Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exhibition, dubbed the “Farewell Stories Exhibition,” at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo from January 22 to February 28, which will feature a special Final Fantasy VII exhibition that includes never before seen image boards of Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Final Fantasy VII Special Exhibition: “The Words Aerith Left Behind”

Aerith met a tragic death in the story of the original game. In this exhibition, the “Sector 5 Church” where Aerith and the protagonist Cloud first met will be recreated. Freely walk around the inside of the church while listening to a monologue of Aerith’s memories specially recorded for this exhibition. Additionally, never before seen image boards for the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake and more will also be on display.

Scenario by Kazushige Nojima, voice-over by Maaya Sakamoto
The Farewell Stories Exhibition will also feature various other exhibitions that recreate a number of the “farewell stories” depicted in the Final Fantasy series. Square Enix also developed an augmented reality audio system for the exhibition, which links your smartphone with the 150 beacons installed at the venue for the items on display. Doing this will enable you to hear synchronized game background music, character voices, and personalized navigation from the headphones installed at each exhibit by simply standing in front of the beacon.

Users who follow the Facebook page, Twitter page, or pre-register on Google Play will help towards earning up to 5,000 Gems (in-game currency) upon the game’s launch.

Here is a brief overview of the game, via Google Play:
Story
Darkness converges upon us, and the world crumbles before our very eyes…
What was once a sanctuary for the weary has now become a battlefield.

Long ago, the deities Spiritus and Materia warped the fabric of time and space to create a new world—a world they populated with warriors from other realms.

These men and women were forced to fight day and night without reprieve, and the strain of endless battle soon grew to be too great.
With battered bodies and shattered spirits, they sent out a cry for help…
Key Features
  • A Dream Collaboration! – Legendary heroes and villains from across the Final Fantasy series come together in a compelling story of powerful deities and a world in peril. Fans of the series will see their favorite characters in a brand-new adventure, and newcomers will experience the compelling story, drama, and combat that the Final Fantasy series is known for!
  • Turn-Based Combat with a Twist! – Engage in simple yet strategic turn-based combat! The unique Bravery system challenges you to balance offense with defense as you build up your Bravery and wait for the right moment to strike!
  • Assemble Your Party! – Build parties from a cast of dozens of Final Fantasy heroes and villains and prepare them for battle with a variety of equipment and abilities. Embark on a journey alongside beloved characters and encounter familiar faces, summons, and more along the way!
  • Play with Friends! – Multiplayer quests allow you to join forces with up to two other players to bring down mighty enemies and earn fabulous rewards!

Final Fantasy VII Remake’s Cloud character design has changed
Published 20 hours ago. 361 comments.

Quote:
Four new screenshots debuted at Final Fantasy art exhibition.

During a talk show at the Final Fantasy “Farewell Stories” 30th Anniversary Exhibition, which is running Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo until February 28, Square Enix debuted four new in-development screenshots of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Unfortunately, those screenshots were limited to those in attendance, and it was said that there are no plans to release them online for quite some time.

According to Twitter reports from the event, Cloud’s design has changed from what we have previously seen. Final Fantasy VII Remake development lead Naoki Hamaguchi said the new design “finally got the OK from [director and original character designer Tetsuya] Nomura.” Either their hard work paid off or Nomura thought the final design was sufficient enough to recognize it as “the closest to the original [design] among those created so far.” Hamaguchi also said the development system is in good order and doing well.

The screenshots themselves featured Cloud and the members of Avalanche. Twitter reports describe Biggs as super handsome, Wedge as refreshingly chubby, and Jessie as cute. And while Cloud has an immaturity suitable for his age, he is still handsome. Everything seems to have been remade from the previously released trailer.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is in development for PlayStation 4.
Thanks, @monoyu_ka (2, 3, 4), @rikuka_tw (2), and Games Talk.

I picked Final Fantasy X HD for the PS4 and I was impressed with how much smoother everything looks. I haven't played this game in 16 years so its cool to re-live it with a more polished look.

Didn't care for Part 2.

The “project’s current progress” section of the listing states:
We are examining programs that implement general functions and contents for Final Fantasy VII Remake as necessary on the development team, and while we are reaching a satisfactory level in terms of reproducing the original title in high-quality graphics, we have come to the conclusion that we should aim for even higher quality in order to meet the expectations of fans.
That said, we will tackle the production of this big title by establishing core members of various positons such as level planner, battle planner, designer, engineer, etc. including existing members of the development team. Interested applicants are expected to work as a core member.

Square Enix seeking battle and level planners.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will be a “new creation not limited to a simple remake” that aims to “surpasses the original” game, according to a new job listing seeking planners to work on the project.

Here is the full job listing:
Not a “remake.” “Creation” is the mission we were given.
1997. With dedicated fans and the like even now 20 years after release, it is no exaggeration to say that Final Fantasy VII, which boasts over 11 million total shipments and download sales in the worldwide market, is the masterpiece of the series loved by fans all over the world.

And now we have announced the release of a Final Fantasy VII remake. Due to the huge reaction, we are aiming at nothing less than a “new creation” not limited to a simple remake.

It should be noted that this is an internal production. After 20 years, the staff behind the original Final Fantasy VII, who are top-rankers in the industry even now, are reuniting. A project to create “a title that surpasses the original” is starting full-scale.

Take on the even more difficult challenge of creating a new title, in a certain sense, alongside top-level creators—. It is a job that will naturally impact growth as a creator, as well the world.

Preserve the existing concepts users hold while creating a new world view. A project that can only be accomplished here is waiting for you.

Recruitment Background
Final Fantasy VII was a major hit all over the world and changed the scene of gaming when it launched. Final Fantasy VII Remake, which brings new life to the title after 20 years, is a project that is attracting attention from both inside and outside of the industry.

Our goal is “the realization of game with quality that surpasses the original.” For that reason, we are continuing the recruitment of internal development staff.

Detailed Work Content
  • Battle Planner
    • Planning and specifications creation of a battle system that combines commands and action.
    • Devising of ideas such as enemies and bosses.
    • Construction of environments including setting parameters aligned to the player’s growth
  • Level Planner
    • Construction of a workflow for location production.
    • Devising of ideas for the level designs of each location.
    • Implementation of data in Unreal Engine 4.
Create a “new Final Fantasy VII” not limited to a simple remake as a new Final Fantasy with action elements added to the traditional strategy, and deliver your creativity to the world.
Assigned Department
1st Business Division is the department [of Square Enix] working on Mobius Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy VII Remake. In addition to staff that worked on the original Final Fantasy VII, staff that worked on previous generations of the Final Fantasy series are joining the team one after the other. This is the chance to work with us on a “new Final Fantasy creation” not limited to a remake.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is in development for PlayStation 4.
